Why did Otto Rank break with Freud?
Rank broke with Freud over 'birth trauma' though, leading his ``expulsion'' from the psychoanalytic movement. Importantly, however, Rank's work had highlighted the importance of anxiety situations other than castration, leading Freud to reformulate his theory of anxiety in 'Inhibitions, Symptoms, and Anxiety'' (1926).
